Question by ubiquetoss: dog owners, vets, breeders – feed irregularly; do not feed on schedule?
http://k9joy.com/dogarticles/dogfood01conditioning.pdf

According to the above article, dogs are not designed to be fed with the SAME food at a REGULAR time.

Like their ancestors, dogs should be fed with food with varying nutritional content and at irregular times.

Feeding at regular schedule causes the release of digestive enzymes BEFORE the food actually hits the stomach, which is not natural for dogs. They should not be conditioned to release digestive enzymes by schedule.

“By not allowing the stomach to ‘jump the gun’ on starting the digestion process before the food actually is available for it, it remains flexible in regards to making the digestion fit the food. And that way, you keep your dog in much better health,” consistent to its natural mechanism.

.. I always feed my dog by schedule, every day. And, like the article suggested, he did vomit on the few times that I was off schedule. What are your experiences? Do your dogs thrive on irregular feeding schedule?
