“Dynamite” Dogs — Fueled by All Natural Dog Food, Dog Prebiotics, Win Sheepdog Trial Titles at Trailing of the Sheep

Champion sheepdog Tess relies on Dyna-Pro dog prebiotics in competition.

Ketchum, ID (PRWEB) October 14, 2011

“Dynamite” dogs, their talents fueled by Dynamite Specialty Products’ all-natural dog food and nutritional supplements, won first and second place, plus a special prize for “penning” sheep, in this year’s Trailing of the Sheep Dog Trials here.

A total of five Dynamite dogs placed in the two-day competition.

Initially tying for first place overall were Tess, owned and handled by Lavon Calzacorta of Wilder and sponsored by Dynamite Specialty Products, and Ash, owned and handled by Don Helsley of Caldwell. Following a tie-breaking event, first place went to Ash.

Ty, a dog owned by Dynamite distributor Ray Crabtree of Kuna, won a special package of $ 200 worth of Dynamite products to honor the first dog that succeeded in herding the sheep into a pen. They achieved the goal on Saturday, marking the first time in three years that any contestant had penned the sheep.

Two other dogs, owned by Helsley and his wife, Jeanie, placed on Saturday. Wizard, also handled by Don Helsley, was third, and Tate, handled by Jeanie Helsley, placed sixth.

All three of the handlers believe that Dynamite’s prebiotic, Dyna-Pro, is one of the factors that gives their dog an edge in competition.

“Our slogan is that ‘It’s all about guts,’” Calzacorta said. “It takes guts for a dog to stare down an old, angry ewe that doesn’t want to move. The dog’s physical guts also have to be working properly. If a dog doesn’t feel good, it won’t perform well. All-natural dog food and good dog nutrition also are important.”

Dyna-Pro uses a fermentation extract for the health of natural gut bacteria. It is available for dogs, horses and other species.

The gift package won by Crabtree included not only Dyna-Pro dog prebiotic; but also Showdown, a canine vitamin and nutritional supplement; Canine Cookies, all-natural hypoallergenic dog treats introduced earlier this year; Balm, to sooth paws and injuries; and other Dynamite products.

About Dynamite

A family-owned business that has specialized in animal nutrition for four generations, Dynamite Specialty Products makes products for virtually every member of the animal kingdom. It has long developed all-natural dog food and nutritional supplements for working dogs across the country and prize-winning racehorses. Its specialists in dog nutrition and animal nutrition can recommend exactly what vitamins, minerals and other supplements best support dogs with allergies, horses with laminitis, cats whose owners make their own food, and cows with digestive issues.

Dynamite has worked with veterinarians and university researchers to produce specialty foods to correct nutritional deficiencies in animals ranging from Canadian muskoxen to peregrine falcons to zoo exotics.

Dynamite uses only natural ingredients, made in the United States for better quality control. Throughout its history of making natural dog food, it has always looked at alternatives to animal by-products, antibiotics, chemical preservatives, fumigants, artificial coloring and other additives that have later caused dog allergies and other health problems. Its manufacturing processes are so stringently controlled that Dynamite has a separate mill to produce feed for herbivores, such as horses and poultry that are especially sensitive to contamination from meat needed by other species such as dogs and cats.

Dynamite products also are available through more than 4,000 individual distributors across the country. All products use only natural ingredients and are made in the United States for quality control. Dynamite’s Ultimate Dog Food is a raw, grain-free dog food that does not need to be refrigerated.

Additional information about Dyna-Pro and other Dynamite products is available at Dynamite’s headquarters are in Meridian, Idaho, and additional mills are in Iowa.

About sheepdog trials

Sheepdog trials are competitive events in which herding dogs move sheep around a field, through gates, and into pens as directed by their handlers.

Last weekend’s event was part of the annual Trailing of the Sheep Festival, celebrating Idaho’s sheep-raising heritage. In 1918 Idaho’s sheep population was 2.65 million, almost six times the state’s human population. It was not until the 1970 census that humans outnumbered sheep in Idaho, 700,000 to 687,000, according to organizers of the Festival. Additional information about the Trailing of the Sheep is available at

Longtime Pet Lover Creates Web site to Distribute Clothes and Accessories for Dogs

West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) December 2, 2009

Mother of three, Linda Joseph recalls that, “in our home, pets were always family.” When her children were young, they often dressed up Sam, the family dog, in a variety of outfits, particularly sports jerseys, and took him on outings. The idea of active wear and accessories for pets is a notion that took hold with her then and stuck eventually prompting her to transform her children’s inspiration into a business. Thus, she established in October of 2009.

Here, pet lovers and shoppers alike can browse through a lavish array of coats, vests, dresses, hats, raincoats, scarves, sweaters, hoodies and T-shirts to dress up their precious pooches. In family tradition, Joseph’s site also offers such merchandise in an assortment of sports-themed options that encompass colleges and universities, MLB, NASCAR, NBA, NFL and pro soccer.

“Some people love to have an entire wardrobe for their dog, while others are hesitant at the idea of dogs’ clothes, but few can refuse sports clothes for their pups,” she said.

In addition to Joseph’s handpicked selection of pet apparel, she also offers an eclectic variety of pet accessories that include beds and blankets, totes and carrying cases, bowls, mats, collars, leashes, furniture, strollers and more. Customers are prompted to check back often as she will continue to update her inventory, starting with the addition of backpacks and bowls that won’t leak water – this line of accessories is intended to make it easier for on-the-go pet owners to take their dogs along, no matter where they decided to go. Other similar accessories are also on the horizon.

“A doggie dresser, to store the pet clothes, is an adorable way to stay organized; however, my selection also includes a more casual variety of pet accessories for the everyday pet owner who’s not a Paris Hilton wanna be,” Joseph said.

Shoppers are encouraged to visit the Web site’s newly formulated blog to learn helpful tips to keep dogs healthy and comfortable; starting with the importance of vegetables in a dog’s diet. This interactive tool,, will be used in the future to list public facilities where pets are allowed in addition to detailed product information.
