Question by : Cesar Millan or Victoria Stilwell?
Hi, I have a question about these two “dog behaviorists”. Some people say Cesar is better and others think Victoria is better because she uses positive reinforcement. I am 13 and I have 2 dogs. Which way would be better to train them? Victoria’s way or Cesars way? I’m really confused because I was doing it Cesars way and now everone is saying it’s inhumane.
So I was thinking about doing it Victoria’s way and I think her way would work with my Border Collie mix but NO WAY with my bigger more stubborn dog. And when I say stubborn, I don’t think there has EVER been a more stubborn dog in the world. Anyway, I just wanted opinions!
I know Cesar doesn’t use the positive reinforcement and treats and stuff but I don’t necessarily believe that his techniques are inhumane, he just has a different way of getting them done…(=

Opinions please!! Thanks in advance!! :) I like how almost everyone on Yahoo Answers is so helpful, so I just thought this would be a good place to get some info. :) I plan on being a REALLY good dog behaviorist when I’m older…or a vet :)
LOL…thanks for the comparison…I guess you’re right. I think I’ll use Victoria Stilwell’s training for my Border Collie mix and Cesar Millans for my Great Dane mix…THANKS!!
Thanks a lot jtexas!! I agree that when Cesar has to get rough with them, he will. I also believe that Victoria is an OK trainer as far as trainers go.
I also know that Cesar is a behaviorist and not a trainer…(I have all his books)
He helps problem dogs with severe problems and I like that…(=
Considering he saved many dogs from euthanization, I would say he’s not so bad. All the dogs at his center seem very happy and content and if they don’t mind him, then neither do I.
THANKS EVERYBODY FOR YOUR OPINIONS!!
@ Clockwork_Knight…YES!! I do believe strangling is VERY cruel! I never said I would do that to my dogs! I do not strangle them at all!! I just said that some of his methods work and I would never use a CRUEL method.
I don’t believe in abusing a dog to gt them to do what we want them to do. But some of his methods DO work…=)

They are both good and both have different training techniques so you really can’t compare the two. It would be like comparing apples and tomatoes.
