Teachers and students are counting the days until they get out of the classroom and explore the Indian River Lagoon eco system with Island Boat Lines. Surprisingly, this field trip may also be the first time some of the children will ever be on a boat.

Since 2002 Island Boat Lines has offered discounted field trips for school children of all ages. These eco tour trips continue to be popular amongst everyone. “We have had schools return year after year. The teachers say that “In search of wildlife” is the favorite field trip of the year. It is so exciting to see the joy on the students faces when they see the dolphins and manatees for the very first time. said Debbie Sheridan, the Island Boat Lines field trip coordinator.

Island Boat Lines USCG certified vessels are very safe so teachers and chaperon’s can relax during the adventure. This year the students will participate in an interactive scavenger hunt “In Search of Wildlife” though the Cocoa Beach 1,000 Islands. The hunts will be guided by USCG Certified Captains and professional Naturalists who will assist the students discover wildlife on the Indian River Lagoon as they journey through the Thousand Islands”. Some of the species they will be seeking during their hunt are double crested cormorant, great egrets, cattle egrets, snowy egrets, great blue heron, mottled duck, royal terns, least terns, little blue heron, white ibis, wood stork, brown pelican, manatees, Atlantic bottle nose dolphin, otters, raccoon, squirrel, American alligator, water snake, diamondback terrapin turtle and a variety of plants and trees as well as the random barking dog.” said Debbie

Debbie Sheridan works personally with every teacher to ensure all field trip are successful. Her attention to details and strong bonds she has built over the years with teachers is remarkable. Debbie recommends that teachers call now to ensure they secure a date for their class field trip. Dates will be limited due to the demand for this popular trip.

Island Boat Lines has overcome a organization milestone by establishing exclusive dockage at Sunset Cafe in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Sunset Cafe is a lovely waterfront restaurant where the children can board the vessels safely from proper docks and have access to clean facilities. Along the journey the class may stop at a waterfront park to enjoy a packed lunch and stretch their legs or they may choose to have lunch at Sunset Cafe.

Island Boat Lines also offer daily tours for the regular public departing at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm as well as shore excursions for passengers from cruise ships visiting Port Canaveral.

Island Boat Lines is only 45 minutes from Orlando and walking distance to Cocoa Beach world famous Ron Jons Surf Shop. Island Boat Lines have a very informative website that display photo’s and prices. http://www.IslandBoatLines.com To make a reservation or inquire about field trips call 321-454-7414 or email Tours(at)islandboatlines(dot)com

Island Boat Lines is also offering other activities this school year for field trips. Teachers may consider taking their class on an old fashion riverboat adventure on board the Indian River Queen, a triple deck paddle wheel boat located in Cocoa Florida. http://www.IndianRiverQueen.com This trip is a great way to study Mark Twain literature about riverboat adventures.

Fishing adventures and workshops are also available with http://www.OrlandoFishingAdventures.com
