sorry to put it this way, but being house-trained is like being pregnant; you are or you aren’t. You either can trust the dog or you can’t.

I would crate the dog if you are not there to watch it. If it has picked a particular spot, then chances are there is still an odor there that is drawing him there again and again. I would find a “pet spot” cleaner that breaks down odors as well. When you are there and see him getting ready to go, walk up to him, and take him outside, then praise him for doing his chores outside. It takes consistent training to get your dog to do this, and some dogs take a long time to learn this while others only take a little while.

Good luck

Call for Ugly Dogs: 25th Anniversary of the World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest Means a Bigger Event, and More Dogs Than Ever at This Year’s Sonoma-Marin Fair June 2013

Petaluma, California (PRWEB) April 11, 2013

Who knew that when the World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest began that it would become an international phenomenon? Now in its 25th anniversary year at the Sonoma-Marin Fair, the contest draws beauty-challenged dogs from across the country and even around the world each June to make their play for the coveted title. The 2013 contest entries are now open with registration forms available for contestant download online at http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org. Forms also are available by calling 707-283-3247 (FAIR).

The Sonoma-Marin Fair is producing the 25th annual World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest on Friday, June 21, 2013 with full fanfare. The fair theme is Dog Days of Summer and a retrospective exhibit featuring the last 25 years of the contest will be on display. Contracted to host are nationally syndicated radio personalities Bob & Sheri. The show is preceded by a Dog Lover’s Festival celebrating all things dog and includes the Sonoma Humane Society’s Pet Waggin’ with adoptable dogs. The Fair will reprise the popular Beauty & the Beast Rescue Walk during the contest in which local beauty queens walk adoptable dogs through the audience during judging intervals.

This year marks an increase from $ 1,000 to $ 1,500 in the cash prize for winning the title of World’s Ugliest Dog ®. The title also comes with an enormous trophy and an instant launch into worldwide acclaim. Organizers have also simplified the final round of the contest. The winner of this year’s contest will be declared following a runoff between the winner of the pedigree class and the mutt class. In past years, that winner had to also go up against past years’ winners in a Ring of Champions round before claiming the title.

All dogs must enter a prequalifying round to ensure they are truly ugly before they take the stage. Owners must provide vet documentation that their dogs are healthy when registering. The fair also conducts on-site vet checks on the day of the contest.

Contest lovers can cast their vote at the hugely popular World’s Ugliest Dog ® Voting Gallery (http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org) where contestant photos and descriptions will be posted starting in April 15.

Attending the World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest is included in the price of admission to the fair as are the carnival, concerts, and other entertainment. The Sonoma-Marin Fair runs June 19 through 23 and offers $ 15 admission for adults, $ 10 for 4 to 12 year olds and 3 and under are admitted free. Look for fair and contest updates online at http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org or call 707-283-3247 (FAIR).
