Question by theanonymous: How do service dogs know where the owner wants to go?
Do they recognize words such as “grocery store” or “park”? Do they walk their owners around everywhere without ever getting lost? How are they able to do this?

First they are trained at the training centre, then they are matched up with their new owner. At this time a trainer goes to the owners home and works with them and the dog. They go over the same route over and over again until the dog has learned it. And don’t forget, the owner already knows the route! Blind people learn to find their way about before they get the dog.
