Newport Beach Junior Chamber (“Newport Beach Jaycees”) Member Wendy Leung will appear on “Real Orange” on September 20, 2004 to share how the Jaycees will end the dog days of summer and raise funds for the community at Doggie Show 2004, to be held on September 25, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Costa Mesa Bark Park. Ms. Leung and Ms. Rachel Barnes, President of the Costa Mesa Bark Park, will appear on the long-standing television program which is co-hosted by Ed Arnold, former California Junior Chamber President.

Canines and dog lovers from throughout the southland will participate in Doggie Show 2004 which benefits the Newport Beach Jaycees and the Costa Mesa Bark Park. Featured attractions at Doggie Show 2004 include a demonstration by Santa Ana Police Department K-9 Unit with its specially trained police dog. Pet Trainer Andrew Ledford will provide canine training advice and serve as the Show’s Head Judge. Los Angeles-based rock pop band, Moe Jones, is scheduled to perform live at the Show. Judging categories are Best of Show, First Runner Up, Second Runner Up and Best Groomed/Dressed. Local businesses have generously contributed in-kind and cash donations which will be awarded to the winners.

The Costa Mesa Bark Park is a two-acre, fully fenced piece of land designated by the City of Costa Mesa as an area where the public can take their dogs and allow them to run and play off-leash. It is the only area of the City of Costa Mesa where dogs are not required, by ordinance, to be kept on a leash. The park is fully funded by donations from its users and businesses and is the playground for dogs from different parts of Southern California. The scene of unleashed dogs hopping around freely with each other, roaming the place with laughter from the owners, who are enjoying conversations among themselves at the same time, creates a typical day at the park. Doggie Show 2004 will help provide the needed revenue for the ongoing operation of a very popular destination for dog owners and their beloved pets.

Dog Show 2004 is just one of many community service events organized by the Newport Beach Jaycees, a local chapter of the California Junior Chamber, the United States Junior Chamber and Junior Chamber International. The mission of the Junior ChamberI is to provide young people between the ages of 18 and 40 with opportunities for leadership development, community service, entrepreneurship, and fellowship so that they can create positive change in their community.

Admission into Doggie Show 2004 is $ 10 for adults; $ 6 for children between the ages of 5 and 12 and free for children under the age of 5. Dogs may be enrolled in the Show for a fee of $ 25.00.
