Eli Manning to Host 30th Annual Guiding Eyes for the Blind Golf Classic at Mount Kisco and Whippoorwill Clubs on June 25, 2007 – Sixteen Blind Golfers to Compete for the Corcoran Cup on June 24, 2007

Yorktown Heights, NY (PRWEB) March 5, 2007

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is pleased to welcome New York Giant quarterback Eli Manning as the new host of the 30th Annual Guiding Eyes for the Blind Golf Classic.

The Classic, started 30 years ago as a way to help fund Guiding Eyes’ services to the blind and visually impaired, will be held on Monday, June 25, 2007 at both the Whippoorwill Club in Armonk, New York and Mount Kisco Country Club in Mount Kisco.

“I am honored to host the 30th Annual Guiding Eyes for the Blind Golf Classic,” Manning said. “I feel a special closeness to this event as my family and the family of one of the blind golfers, Pat Browne, Jr., have been friends for many years. Now, being part of the Classic will allow me to become even more aware of the very worthwhile things this organization accomplishes.”

Mr. Manning will take over as host of the Golf classic from Ken Venturi, who devoted 27 years to supporting the event and Guiding Eyes. Mr. Venturi remains as Honorary Chairman of the Classic.

On Monday, June 25, the Classic will be played at both Mount Kisco Country Club, Mount Kisco, NY and Whippoorwill Club, Armonk, NY. Participants play 18 holes of golf with an opportunity to play a few holes with blind golfers and will also have the opportunity to meet Eli Manning. On Sunday, June 24, sixteen of the top blind golfers from the United States Blind Golf Association in the U.S. and Canada compete against one another at Mount Kisco Country Club for the coveted Corcoran Cup.

The Classic is the largest fundraiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, one of the leading guide dog training schools in the country, and has raised over $ 6 million for this non-profit organization located in Yorktown Heights, NY. Guiding Eyes, having just celebrated its 50th year in 2006, is a 501 (c) non-profit organization which relies solely on the outstanding generosity of individuals, corporations, foundations, civic groups, and their two major annual fundraisers, the Golf Classic and the New Leash on Life Walkathon, October 7, 2007. For further information on how to participate in the Classic, or possible sponsorship, please call Charlene Kalbfell at 914-243-2208 or log on to their website at http://www.guidingeyes.org.

Fighters are not MADE they are BORN – its NOT a matter of training, it MUST be IN dog’s HEAD, he MUST BE BORN this way. Its pure genetics. Attack is a son of Bobie van de Duvetorre and is 7 months old on this video. Amazing dog, his fathers’ son to the fullest. We are most successfully combining this line with Arno and his progeny.

2007 Wall Calendar will Fund Treatment for Dogs with Cancer

2007 Wall Calendar will Fund Treatment for Dogs with Cancer

Briarcliff Manor, NY (PRWEB) July 1, 2006

The Magic Bullet Fund seeks sponsors to cover production costs for the 2007 Brave Spirits calendar. One sponsor is needed for each month; there are currently 9 months available for sponsorship at $ 325.00 per month. Each sponsor will be acknowledged on one month’s page and will also have a 2.5” x 2.5” box on page 1. In this box, corporate sponsors may display a corporate ad or a discount coupon. Individual sponsors may display a tribute to their own (or a friend’s) dog. Sponsorships are tax deductible under the Perseus Foundation’s 501(c)(3) non-profit status. For more information, contact the Magic Bullet Fund by phone at (914) 941-0159.

The Magic Bullet Fund provides financial assistance to those who cannot afford treatment for their dogs with cancer. In October 2006, the fund will offer a 2007 wall calendar titled, “Brave Spirits.” Proceeds from sales of the Brave Spirits calendar will fund cancer treatment for dogs who would not otherwise be able to have treatment – to spare people from losing their beloved pets to cancer without making an attempt to save them. The calendar pays tribute to the 16 dogs featured on its pages and to all dogs who are fighting or have fought cancer. It raises public awareness about canine cancer and informs all dog lovers about various types of canine cancer. Medical information provided in the calendar will be reviewed by a veterinary oncologist.

Millions of pet dogs are diagnosed with cancer every year, yet many people are unaware of the high incidence of canine cancer and that sophisticated and relatively successful treatment is available for dogs with cancer. Many who would like to provide treatment for their dogs with cancer, hoping for a cure or remission, cannot afford the treatment costs.

The Magic Bullet Fund was established by Laurie Kaplan as a program of the Perseus Foundation, in honor of her own canine cancer survivor, Bullet. A medical animal writer, Kaplan authored the award-winning book “Help Your Dog Fight Cancer: An Overview of Home Care Options.” She explains the motivation for creating the Magic Bullet Fund: “Those of us who are able to provide treatment for our dogs with cancer are very fortunate. Those who cannot must receive assistance.”

*Advance purchases of the calendar may be placed at http://www.themagicbulletfund.org/calendar.html.

Background Information

Since its inception on November 20, 2005, the Magic Bullet Fund has provided financial assistance for six dogs with various types of cancer by coordinating with their veterinarians or veterinary oncologists. These dogs can be seen at the web site http://www.themagicbulletfund.org/donatefor.html. Kaplan and the Perseus Foundation are working to expand the Magic Bullet Fund’s financial base. We would like to see the fund assist in many more cases before the end of 2006 and into the future and proceeds from the Brave Spirits Calendar is one project that will help us to accomplish our goal.
