Question by MystMoonstruck: Do you remember an afternoon special in which a boy and girl are snowbound?
This film (hour-long I think) is based on a novel that I thought was titled “Snowbound”, but that title doesn’t yield the correct film. It isn’t listed in Schoolbreak or Afterschool episode guides. I wish I could recall the author’s name, but I haven’t been able to do that yet.

As I recall, the story takes place during deep winter in a fairly rural area. A very popular, handsome teenage boy ends up giving a ride to an unpopular girl who has a secret crush on him. She has her pet with her~a small, white dog. The vehicle might be a VW Beetle, but I don’t recall the color. When they are in the country, outside their town, the car veers off the road and becomes stuck in a snowdrift. Of course, they begin trying to get out of that fix, and I recall them bickering a lot and making no progress. At one point, wolves or wild dogs attack, and the little dog is killed trying to defend them. They manage to survive the attack, huddled in the car. Eventually, they are rescued, with fresh evaluations of each other and no lingering romantic notions on her part.

I thought the girl might be Susan Meyers, who stars in “The Spell”, but it’s not in her filmography. I’m sure the girl is played by a rather plain, redhaired actress with frizzy, unmanageable tresses; she is a tad frumpy, especially in winter gear. I’ve vetoed Nada Despotovich and Lisa Jane Persky. The boy is extremely attractive, but he’s not Todd Crespi, Scott Colomby, Leigh McCloskey, William Kirby Cullen, Ben Marley, or other heartthrobs of the time, at least that I can recall. Neither of them are “name” actors.

I haven’t had luck with “Snowbound”, “Snow Bound”, or even “Stranded”. I’m positive that it is a very simple one- or two-word, obvious title. It’s possible that it simply hasn’t been added to filmographies yet, as I discovered with a couple of other TV specials.
Thank you for verifying that my memory still is somewhat trustworthy! Now, do either of you remember the actor who shares her adventure? None of the sites mention the leading man, and I’d really like to know who plays the role. Do either of you remember?

By the way, I honestly wish that I could split the points because both of you helped so much! I guess I should have checked beyond IMDb and Wikipedia but am rather a chicken about going to other sites.

If you don’t come back to check, I’ll likely never know till I find a copy of the special.

i LOVE this movie! i had an 80s party and we watched all the classics like pretty in pink, sixteen candles, etc…and THIS. my friends and i were laughing soo hard we were rolling on the floor almost hyperventilating. even if you don’t think this is the most awesome movie ever (which means you’re absolutely crazy and don’t understand the value of an 80s style movie) you can at least spice up your conversations by quoting random lines… this is the funnest thing ever like “let abracado-this” or “you ever broke a Puerto Ricans’s arm for sweatpants money” try it if it doesn’t break the ice then you really have failed as someone who lived in the 80s because i’m guessing you all have lived in the 80s and saw these movie in original version well guess what i was born in 92 and i understand the value of this movie and all 80s movies…if you disagree then stick to the history channel or whatever it is you boring people watch.

“WANT to go walk? Go car? See doggies?” Two big brown eyes regard me haughtily. I try persuading her a little more, but she turns her face away and ignores me. No? Well, fine then.
